Simplify – the Government’s red tape reduction initiative

Simplify was a large-scale, high profile, red tape reduction initiative which brought the community and the public sector into a conversation about how to make government more efficient and remove red tape.
Project Outcomes
- Elicited over 500 new and innovative ideas to eliminate bureaucratic waste from the public system through feedback from community, industry and public sector employees, using a variety of channels.
- Three open space sessions with the Simplify Team, consisting of ten young and ten recently retired senior executive public servants, produced 17 well-considered recommendations for improvement to be presented to Government.
- Face-to-face ‘idea bank’ sessions were hosted by several government organisations, generating ideas from agency chief executives, staff and the Simplify Team.
