Manager Essentials Program
Developing great managers for a great state.
For someone who is about to take the course, what is one thing you would encourage them to do?
Brian Tang:
For someone who’s about to take a course, I would encourage them to be reflective and creative, and to think about how the theories and scenarios apply to them in their workplace. Be creative in how you implement some of the strategies they learn.
Mark Taylor:
I’ve told people about the course that they really need to be open-minded and ready to be challenged in how they should manage their team. This course will empower them. I also tell them that they’ll learn how to lead and understand their teams, not to manage their teams, and I think that’s one of the main messages I've given.
Rebecca McGuire-Johnston:
For anyone who’s about to undertake the program, there are two things I would really encourage them to do. The first one is to engage with their peer team group, that you join with as part of the program. They will be a tremendous support for you, and you’ll find that you're supporting and leaning on each other throughout the program and beyond. The other thing that I encourage you to do is really give yourself permission to be present, not only in the sessions but also post the sessions to really engage with the learning materials and to prioritise this work, because you will never get an opportunity like this again.
Craig Bradbrook:
The one the thing I’d encourage people to do that take the course, is to be humble and open to change. Be prepared to find your “why”, what brings you value, what brings self-satisfaction, and a sense of self-worth.
Rachel Bell:
For anyone about to embark on the program, I’d tell them to be open and engage with the process. It’s the experiences that people share that really add richness and reality to the course.
